Jennifer K. Chenoweth Scholarship Fund

It was with very heavy hearts that we said good-bye to our friend, Jennifer Kelley Chenoweth, on July 21, 2017. Jenn, mother of Morning Star students Mariah and Jasmine, lost her courageous battle with cancer.  We were humbled and honored when we learned that her husband, Brian, wanted to start a scholarship fund at Morning Star in Jenn’s name.  “Education was very important to Jenn. She was one of the most amazing teachers ever. She gave 110% to her students. Her family would like to give a scholarship in her name to Mariah and Jasmine’s school, whom have been so supportive and dedicated through all of this. Every dollar goes towards helping another child (or children) get the education they so need.”  On August 15th, Brian presented Morning Star with $6725.  We are grateful and deeply touched by the outpouring of love to Jenn.  God be with you till we meet again.

Her Journey’s Just Begun
Don’t think of her as gone away
Her journey’s just begun.
Life holds so many facets,
This earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and no years.
Think how she much be wishing
That we could know today,
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away,
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched.
For nothing loved is ever lost,
And she was loved so much.

Give a Cheer for the New School Year

We’ve had a great start to the 2016-2017 school year. The Back-to-School BBQ on August 9th was a success. Thanks to all of our families, board members, teachers and staff who braved the rainy weather to attend. A BIG thank you to event chairperson Kate Hodges and her team of parent volunteers for coordinating the event. Current enrollment is 80 students. We welcome new teacher Laura Humphrey along with teacher’s assistant Jenelle Vinachi to Morning Star.  Kim Strickland, SLP, with Kids’ Clinic of Tampa Bay will be visiting the school twice a week with therapy dogs Dimitri and Tillie (retired).  We are so excited to see what the year holds for our students!
