Admission Requirements
Morning Star School has an ungraded program for students ages 6-15. The school admits students without regard to race, creed, or ethnic background. The following are requirements when applying for admission:
1. Morning Star School Completed Application
2. Current Psychological
3. Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) from Public School or Student Support Plan (SSP) from Catholic School
4. Academic or Achievement testing from previous school(s)
5. Copy of Birth Certificate
6. Record of current immunization as required by State of Florida
7. Interview with parents and school administrator
Parents will be notifed by phone and mail when an opening becomes available at the child's level.
Tuition & Fees 2011-2012
Tuition $8700.00 Aug. – May
Enrollment Fee – Returning Student (non-refundable) $ 150.00 due March 17, 2011
Enrollment Fee – New Student (non-refundable) $ 250.00 due July 1, 2011
Academic Fees (non-refundable) $ 610.00 due July 1, 2011
Academic fees include books, computer, speech evaluation, and student insurance.
Occupational Therapy Evaluation $ 200.00 due July 1, 2011
O.T.H.E.R.S. Membership Dues $ 50.00 due July 1, 2011
Parent Club Dues $ 25.00 due July 1, 2011
Tuition may be paid in full, due by August 1st. Semi-annual payments are due August 1st &
January 1st. Monthly payments are made for ten months beginning on August 1st with the final
payment due on May 1st. ALL FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL JULY 1st AND RECEIVED NO LATER THAN JULY 10th. FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
Tuition is due by the 10th of each month and a late fee of $50.00 will be charged for tuition not received by the 15th day of the month.
For students receiving the McKay Scholarship Grant: Once the McKay Scholarship Grant has been determined, by the Department of Education in Tallahassee, the family will be notified if the scholarship is less than the tuition.
The current cost of educating a student at Morning Star School is $17,000 per year. The tuition
does not cover the total cost of education, therefore, a subsidy from the Diocese of St. Petersburg, PTA fundraisers, and support from the O.T.H.E.R.S. organization help to defray the cost.
Tuition assistance may be available for families who qualify. Please see the principal to request the necessary paperwork.
Families who are active parishioners in a Catholic parish will be eligible for a discount of $500.00 towards tuition making the tuition fee $8200. In order to receive this discount a form needs to be submitted to verify active membership in the parish. These forms are available in the school office.
Extended Day
Morning Star School offers an Extended Day Program located on the school campus. It will be open to students registered at Morning Star School. The program runs from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. each school day.
The fees for the program are as follows:
Registration $25.00
Weekly Rate $50.00
Drop In Rate $15.00 per day
